At the end of volume 2, Gerard writes that he feels as if The Umbrella Academy gets a chance to start over, in part to how loose the outline for this story arc was compared to the first volume. I must agree with his assessment. As the reader, I felt like this volume is stronger than the first - the art is crisper, the characters' personalities are much more apparent, and the story is a bit more fun. With a release date for summer 2019 for volume three and a TV show adaptation coming in 2019, I am very much looking forward to where these characters go next and learning even more about them.
