Good pacing and interesting characters. Mia, though she came across as slightly whiny, did the things that I would probably do in those situations. She was a believable character, though we wished otherwise at times. Her lightning addiction was well played out, but never fully explored, which left me wishing for more. And I thought the religious cults were interesting, if slightly overplayed. Instalove is always overblown in these sorts of YA novels, but I enjoyed the falling in love, especially as it became more about trusting each other. I don't think Jeremy's character was as well treated as Mia's (Why can't he say anything? Because she isn't ready? That never works out). But he worked well enough for a love interest. Overall, a fun read, but it felt a little flat after the brilliant YA books I've read recently. It was a fun book though, and I would recommend it to teens who are looking for something a little different in concept, but with a story that feel familiar.
