excellent study of the limitations of homicide detectives. they have inadequate resources and terrible personal lives, which serve to interfere with their job performance. also a story of current interest- the bullying of someone different by her peers. woven into this is how selfish and abusive modern parents are, how easy it is for a serial killer to operate successfully in a society obsessed with superficial pursuits while really important concerns go begging. how sad it is to be a teen surrounded by all this cruelty, mayhem and madness. no wonder teens end their short lived and unbearable lives. tami hoag is an excellent fiction writer who shows us how complicated everyday life is and how we fail so miserably at it. tami hoag holds up a mirror in front of us all.
