"The Gold Rush" was probably the most successful comedy of the silent film era. I prefer the 1942 version with Chaplin's narration plus a new music score. I would rate the 1942 narrated version at 5.0 stars. Charlie Chaplin was a comic genius. His pantomine could extract humour from tragedy.
