A 2018-2019 Missouri Truman Readers Award preliminary nominee (grades 6-8). Every 12 years the forgetting happens, and the community of Canaan is plunged first into chaos in the days leading up to the forgetting then confusion as people awaken to a world purged of its memories. Except seventeen-year-old Nadia who has never forgotten. It is almost time for the next Forgetting, and Nadia is determined to figure out what causes it and if it can be stopped. For me, this book took a while to get going, but once it did it was a pretty compelling read. It was an intriguing concept, and Cameron builds the tension well. I wished we had a little bit more time to explore Nadia's relationship with her family.
