May 10, 2018TEENREVIEWCREW rated this title 4 out of 5 stars
After leaving her former girl group “Fifth Harmony,” Camila was able to become strong and independent in the music industry. This Cuban-American singer songwriter is super talented and her music is worth listening to! This album was originally supposed to have Camila’s “Crying in the Club” as it’s lead single, but due to the increased popularity of “Havana” the idea was scraped. Camila definitely incorporates Latin elements in her music which brings a lot of positive reviews from contemporary music critics. Although Camila is primarily a pop album, there are some Latin, reggaeton, dancehall and hip hop music involved as well. There is so much for so many people to love and enjoy! I would give this a 4 out of 5 stars. @SpookyCat of The Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board Camila Cabello made her debut on the X-Factor and raised to fame with her now former girl group Fifth Harmony. Since her departure, Cabello has not slowed down with collaborations with Shawn Mendes, Machine Gun Kelly and Major Lazer. Now with her self-titled album Camila, she demonstrates her own sound, trying to differentiate herself from her former girl group. Her songs talk about love, loss, heartbreak and finding yourself in ways that are new and fresh to the table. Her only collaboration on the album, "Havana" has already proved to be a hit being played on the radio non- stop, a stark contrast to her latest single "Never Be the Same" which brings a more slow, mellow vibe. Overall the album is worth playing, whether in the background when studying for exams or just relaxing on the couch. Some of my favourites are "All These Years", "In The Dark", and "Something's Gotta Give". I rate this 4 Stars with little to complain about, I look forward to listening to more of her music in the future @Ruby_Tuesday of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board
