The presence of Cree and English on each page adds to what is a beautiful story about a Kohkum (grandmother) and her grandson. The grandson's mirroring of his Kohkum's actions as they go about their day adds prediction and works nicely for audience interaction during storytelling. (Yes, this is a great book for Storytime!). I love the illustrations and the understated expression of Aboriginal heritage and the bond between the Kohkum and grandson. It's simply told but the friendship and strength of tradition is expressed strongly.
