I recently read "The New Yorker staff writer Jane Mayer's "Dark Money," which is about the corrupting influence of right-wing money (The Koch Brothers are the villains.) on politics. This earlier book tackles torture and the Bush administration's legal machinations to undermine human rights and the Geneva convention. While the basics on well-known by now, Mayer is particularly interested in the legal and ethical aspects of torture and this is sheds new, disturbing light on the subject. Some other worthy books of a similar nature: "Chain of Command," "Standard Operating Procedure," "Dirty Wars."
