"Come on, baby, light my fire." Psychedelic rockers, The Doors are considered by many to be one of the most influential and unique, American rock bands of their generation, the 1960s. They also have to their credit the advantage of being looked upon as one of the most controversial groups of their day. This was mainly due to lead vocalist/lyricist, Jim Morrison's wild, charismatic and decidedly "unpredictable" stage persona. Between 1967 - 1971 The Doors (all Los Angeles dudes) released 8 studio albums, where all, but one, reached the top 10 of Billboard's 200. To date their records have, collectively, sold over 100 million copies, worldwide. This "Best Of" collection from The Doors contains twenty songs, covering the years from 1967 - 1971. Three of my all-time favourite tunes are - Riders Of The Storm, Love Her Madly, and, of course, Light My Fire. *Note* - In 1971, at the absolute height of his popularity as The Doors' lead vocalist, Jim Morrison (27 at the time) died from heart failure apparently brought on by a massive heroin overdose. (Lyrics excerpt) - "People are strange when you're a stranger. Faces look ugly when you're alone."
