Smilla's Sense of Snow

When Isaiah, a 6-year-old Inuit boy, is killed falling off the roof of a warehouse, his neighbour Smilla, a young woman who is generally misanthropic yet inclined to look out for Isaiah, refuses to believe it is an accident. Smilla begins her investigation in Copenhagen, where her powers of observation -- sharpened by her fascination with mathematics--help her to solve the mystery.
